Long ago in the Age of Knowledge when races died in Heaven, ten scholars called the Brotherhood of Externality named after their perpetual ideas, through their meditative power predicted that there were four forces that shall be the root cause of creation of an entire new race. This race shall shackle the entire universe and will be worthy of all the races. However, this prediction, termed as “The Blood of the Ninth Descendant” due to cause that the ninth descendant of King Falcon’s thousand children will use the forces to prevail through Hell, was been believed only by a few.
Thousands of years later, in the “Age of Mighty”, a few scholars still believed in this prophecy. Scholar Plaro was one such being in heavenly worlds. In these worlds astral travel was used to travel and explore the universe. Plaro knew that his power alone isn’t enough to find about the four forces. So he constituted a council with the help of the King Loran which encompassed all scholars who believed in the prediction. The council renamed themselves as The Brotherhood of Externality and started exploring for the forces by travelling to various worlds around heaven using their astral bodies. In the world named Ultimatum, they all encountered a strange sight. Three of the scholars could see a shield of power around the world.
Plaro, along with the other two, travelled towards the world and just before they touched the shield, a voice shouted, “No one shall pass until true desire is what they possess!”
Plaro was sure that this is the world where the forces were and asked, “Who shall be eligible to pass?”
The voice laughed and alleged, “Only a man with a blessed woman with the power to fight himself and is emotionally detached to attain his goal. Only such a man shall pass.”
Plaro returned and ordered his council men to find a boy and girl from a noble family and raise them with proper knowledge so that they finally pass through the power. As the council worked on it, Plaro learned more and more about Ultimatum but as time passed by, Plaro’s health weakened. In his last moments, he called Leo and Leisa, the elected boy and girl and passed them a scroll and said his last words, “I shall see the brothers at any cost.” Saying so, he wept and left his last breath.
Leo opened the Scroll and found out that Plaro has found out three of the four forces. The fourth being Halo (master of invisibility and power that could affect anyone.) The third force being Dreary (master of emotions the most dangerous of all the three.) The second being Shadow (master of self and he is indefinable) and the first is yet unknown.
Plaro named them the four brothers and imagined them to be men. Reading the Scroll Leo and Leisa also thought henceforth of the forces to be men and brothers by origin.
The council trained both of them for twenty years and finally sent them by using their astral bodies. Leo and Leisa travelled to Ultimatum and when they passed through the shield, they did not get affected. Both of them wore armours and had a sword of Ruby with a shield of Diamond each. As soon as they entered, the voice which both believed to be Brother Halo exclaimed, “Beware of the danger that lies ahead.”
Both of them got down and for the first time Leo turned towards Leisa and said, “I want you to be safe and since the moment has come I am telling you. I have loved you all my life.”
Leisa hugged him and Brother Dreary far away smiled looking at both of them. He knew emotional training was the toughest of all. Both of them walked forward to see a man in a green cloak. Leo drew out his sword but Dreary responded, “As you believe, my brother Shadow is expecting you. You can pass.”
Leo and Leisa were surprised but as they walked forward, they found a tunnel. For some reason, Leisa whispered after they entered, “Lucky us! There isn't any light here.” Before Leo asked her to be silent, brother Halo heard it and kindled a flame with his energy and shadows of Leo and Leisa appeared. Leo drew out his sword before Brother Shadow commanded the shadows to fight them. On receiving the command, the shadows also drew their swords out. All the four fought and Leo pierced his sword into his shadow imagining it to be a man and it faded away. Leo felt as if a part of him were dead.
Leisa also fought well but before she killed her shadow, brother Dreary pierced his spear through her back. Leo was stunned seeing Leisa lose his form. For some reason he ran away to reach the end of the tunnel without bothering too much about anything else.
As soon as the tunnel ended, Leo saw a huge interconnection between stars. He has never seen so many stars interconnected and it was like a childhood dream in which all stars together form the mind of any living being according to him. Before he could observe anything keenly, he heard a voice saying, “Wake Up! Wake Up!”
Plaro woke up from his dream. Beside his bed, sat a man whom he imagined as brother Halo and a minute later his face transformed into the face of brother Dreary, and a moment later it changed into brother Shadow. To the left of the man, stood Lesia undead and to the right stood Plaro’s Shadow and to the extreme right, there is a flame burning.
The man whose face transformed spoke out “Hello my friend. I am the first brother you could not possibly imagine and my name is Dream or in your way, brother Dream. I am the first of the four brothers and I have tested your desire to seek the ultimate truth of your life and here it is. My fourth brother according to you symbolically represents power but he also helps races to seek one's own internal self and to vest themselves to seek self benefit. My third brother Dreary represents the worldly attachment that all races struggle to achieve. My second brother Shadow represents one’s personal self and a man who conquers himself is the only man who would achieve enlightenment and finally anyone who understands the ultimate truth that thoughts are what make races then they find me, The Dream. First of all the brothers and I have tested you in all different ways.
Your desire was tested and your Legacy of training two children proved it. The boy proved himself as he conquered his emotion by setting apart his worldly emotional love.
Plaro looked now to see brother Dreary and he was in the form a girl symbolically representing it. Brother Dream continued saying, “Leo proved himself again by winning against his own shadow which represented a man’s personal trait and finally I unveiled myself.”
Plaro was pleased and Brother Dream concluded saying, “Anyone who has conquered his worldly emotions, personal self and has the true desire to learn the real knowledge is the only one who is blessed to fulfil his dreams.”
Plaro again heard, “Wake Up! Wake Up!”
Plaro woke again and this time he had no brothers sitting beside him. He understood finally the driving force of life is nothing but the thoughts. What most people consider nothing is worth everything.
Next day Plaro assembled all the council members including all the scholars who did not indeed believe in the “Blood of the Ninth Descendant” and explained to them that dreams are what make all the races empower themselves and when he concluded, all the scholars cheered with this learning. On the last chair sat a man whose face transformed continuously. Plaro thought he was dreaming and pinched himself but this time he did not hear, “Wake Up!”, but in return he saw brother Dream smiling, looking at him.

Today was no different from any other day. As usual, mom had a huge fight with dad. She shouted at him and dad refrained. The superman toy that dad gifted me as my birthday present was broken into pieces by mom in her rage. I had no courage to intervene in their blatant conversation. If I did, mom would either slap me or maim me like she had done the last time when dad got me a lavish beverage. Hence, I went to school with a hard smile; a sham, once again.
During the morning assembly, I was called on the stage. Principal ma’am, my teachers and all the students sang ‘Happy Birthday’ for me. I turned fourteen today but mom even forgot to wish me. My friends asked me what time I’d cut my birthday cake that evening at the party. They also wanted to know what special I brought for lunch. In reality, it was no different from most days. Mom just packed chapatis with mango pickle. She was in a hurry to go to her job. I’m often reminded how strict her boss is and at times, she would work night shifts too.
When I returned home without mentioning anything about my birthday party to my friends, I could see dad was cooking. He mentioned that mom was busy and would arrive late at night. As we ate dinner, dad mentioned how he was sorry about my birthday gift being broken in their argument.
I stayed silent as he also informed how one of his friends has seen mom on the road. Not wanting to listen to anything else, I just reached my room to sleep. I couldn’t believe that my mother cannot even remember when I was born. I don’t know why she is always angry and is restlessly working. I’m glad God gave me a wonderful dad who talks to me, gets me gifts and loves me too.

Today is Chirag’s birthday. I didn’t wish him. How could I? On the very morning of his birthday, his father ended up doing something utterly silly. A part of the amount that I saved to pay his school fees was invested by him on a useless toy. Marrying that man was the biggest mistake I have ever done in my life. Chirag has no idea that he’ll soon be out of his school. The little money that I earn turns out to become an investment to this man’s whiskey bottles.
Soon that would have to end and he wouldn’t be spared. When Chirag would understand reality and this man’s emotional blackmail of taking my son away from me will be a lie, I will punish him.
I should have struck him when he proudly mentioned offering Chirag a sip of his drink while I was working. When I punished Chirag to teach him the do’s and the don’ts he misunderstands my intentions.
God! We have no money left. That monster gambles and burns my money while buying himself an early grave. All I ever wanted was to raise Chirag in a good environment but I couldn’t even give him a good family. However, I will surely give him a good education even if I have to work double-time.
But with my growing age, I attract a few customers now. The pimp that I met today also deducted my pay because I couldn’t reach on time excluding his complaint against my looks. Yesterday, an old customer caught a glimpse of me on the road and started shouting my work name.
I just hope my problems are solved before Chirag gets to know about any of this. I wish, I stayed home on Chirag’s birthday but I had to rush to the hospital, for another abortion.
I just wish my son lives in the image I built about myself. He is too young to face the sullen realities of life. I’ll be strict with him and will never let him become someone like his monstrous father.
