Noor’s kohl rimmed eyes followed Haider everywhere. He would get up early at dawn for his work. Her furtive gaze was interspersed with blushes as he made his way around her palatial house to the artisan’s camp. Haider knew Noor was a woman any man would dream to be with. Her sublime beauty can only be rivalled by the purity of her heart. He knew in his heart that he loved her. However it was a desire beyond his reach. He was a bonded slave who pledged his life and work to the emperor. Love and marriage are seen as deterrents to his work and are forbidden. Ever since he turned down her advances, their love was reduced to silent gazes and an unfulfilled dream.
Haider was exceptionally gifted with a prodigious talent for architecture and design of forts and monuments. He earned a high reputation among his peers and worked directly under master architect of the Royal Emperor. He was present in the Court hall on the day when the Emperor unveiled his grand plan and vision for a new monument in the capital city. It was unprecedented and required the best artisans and craftsman of its times. Haider saw it as an opportunity and worked on it sleeplessly for months. The designs were personally selected by the Emperor who was impressed with Haider. He granted him a direct audience one day and appreciated his work. However the Emperor said that his designs were inspired and wanted something original and breath-taking. He was given a month to complete this task.
Haider was disappointed and spent several days at his study working on the new design. After a few days he knew he was struggling. He would hide himself in his house without food or water for days. He teared apart his designs which were either inspired or clichéd and was desperate looking for new ideas. Time was running out.
Noor couldn’t see Haider for many days and was worried. One day when she saw him in the bazaar, she went quickly and confronted him. His face was pale and lifeless. She asked what is bothering him but he wouldn’t answer. She kept following and pestered him with questions. He then pulled her into a desolate street and warned her not to look for him again. She exclaimed that she loved him and will continue to love him. He saw her fierce and deep gaze and was astounded by the intensity of her love. He then steadied himself to tell her the truth. “I am a Hindu by birth. I was an artisan in the neighbouring kingdom which was annexed by the Emperor. I was enslaved and was forced to convert to Islam”, he said controlled his anger and tears. “I cannot afford to love and live a life of my own. Now tell me if you still love me?” She was stunned into silence with tears running down her face. Haider left her and walked in dejection to his house.
The last day approached for Haider to prove his worth. Disillusioned by his failure and devastated by his love, he was spiralling into self-destruction. He drank all the opium he could get and his head was spinning beyond control. He dropped down in his study, shut his eyes and ears and tried to block his pain. Just when it was becoming unbearable, she came like a dream. Noor’s uncovered face was shining like moonlight and her eyes were like the deep recesses of the night. He never saw her this close and was enthralled by her pristine beauty. She lifted him out of his darkness and placed him on his bed. She laid beside him and kissed him gently on his head. He took her into his arms and they made love to each other passionately. He wasn’t sure whether this is a dream. The experience was transcendental taking him into the very edge of light and darkness. He remembered his work suddenly. In a flash of brilliance her hand joined his and the design drew itself on paper. Ideas were flowing like a river from their confluence and could not be contained by the limitations of his mind. He then fell into a dreamless sleep.
Haider woke up next morning hardly remembering anything. To his shock there were the design of the monument hand-drawn during the night. He studied it and was shocked by the beauty of the design. He rushed to the palace chambers. The Emperor hailed his extraordinary vision and brilliance. He claimed that this would be an unparalleled wonder in history and would make him immortal for ages to come. He then decided that the building of the monument would begin immediately. The best builders, artisans and masons from all over the world were brought in to work for this monument.
Haider’s popularity grew and he became a legend across the kingdom. However all this unwanted attention made him lonelier by the day. His heart was beating for Noor and he was longing to see her again. He was ordered by the Emperor to stay at the camp site of the monument and oversee the construction. However he had made up his mind. One night he sneaked into Noor’s house and woke her gently. She was startled to see him by her bed and cried with joy. They hugged and comforted each other. He exclaimed that they will have to leave this place if they wish to live together. Both of them agreed and he made an elaborate plan to escape from the city. He asked her to meet him on the next full moon night at the dungeons on the outskirts of the city. Meanwhile he would make arrangements for their travel. He kissed Noor goodbye and left.
The full moon was up and high by the time Noor slipped out of her house. Her heart was beating loudly with hope and trepidation as she walked to the edge of the city. She found the narrow passage way and went down the stairs like he told. She carried a torch aloft as went further into the dungeons. There she waited for Haider to come. Hours passed without a trace of him. She searched for him in the tunnels calling out his name in vain. Soon her torch went out and she lay in pitch darkness. Her thoughts ran wild and anxiety overcame her senses. She did not know how she had ended up in this place. She had done everything right and she did not deserve this. Yet, here she was, in the dark dungeon that stank of stale urine and sweat. She never thought he would betray her like this. Then she broke down and cried her heart out. After a while, dawn broke through and beams of light showed the way out. She regained her composure and walked out of the place. She looked around for him one last time and went back desolately to her house.
Noor waited as days passed by without a word from Haider. She was held captive by her thoughts. “Did he betray her? Did something happen to him?” She couldn’t dare to face that reality. She withdrew herself into a shell and hardly smiled or spoke. Clinging on to hope she went again to the dungeons on the next full moon night but couldn’t find Haider. She returned crestfallen and the cycle repeated every month. She waited stubbornly drawing strength and resolve from her love. Months and years passed. Time marched on relentlessly. Yet there was no sign of respite for the pain and longing of Noor. She refused to get married and joined an orthodox religious sect. She spent her days in prayer and reflection. But she never gave up hope. For twenty years, Noor went to the dungeons every full moon night and waited for her love in vain. Haider seemed to have belonged to another life now. Her days of happiness were a distant dream. She was now old and withered and was slowly passing into memory.
However one full moon day when was about to turn back she heard a faint sound in the dungeons. She walked further hoping against hope. She turned into a corner and saw an old emaciated man lying on the floor. She quickly ran and turned him over. She saw Haider and yelled in shock. His thickly bearded face was covered with wounds and wrinkles. His legs were bound by chains. She held him close as years of pain melted into tears. He saw her face and smiled weakly. Each breath of his was taking its toll on his body and he knew he was dying. He summoned his strength and told her that he was imprisoned the day he met her 20 years back. The Emperor decreed that an architect like Haider cannot be left free to design any other monument in the future as it would belittle his present creation. He then sentenced Haider to life time imprisonment turning a deaf ear to his pleas for mercy. His life was wasted away in prison for two decades. Yet he stayed alive hoping for one last chance to meet his love. He was released as neared his end and he struggled his way to the dungeons which stood directly beneath the prison. Saying this he went quiet. Both of them shared a moment of peace and happiness together. Then Haider asked Noor to take him outside to see his creation before he died.
Noor steadied herself and helped him out of the dungeons. They slowly made their way to the banks of the river Yamuna. The now finished Taj Mahal stood on the opposite bank resplendent in all its glory. It shone pearly white under the full moon adding to its aura and magnificence. Haider and Noor looked at it in awe. “If there was ever a heaven, this is it.” whispered Haider as he breathed his last in the arms of Noor.
“Hi, I'm Arjun.”
“Hey, you can call me Panda.”
“Yeah, white and black colored, bear like animals…..”
“Yeah. Yeah..I know pandas.. Nice to meet you Panda.”
[This was how our conversation started. We met each other online through some random chatting app and then it was magical, not magical in a way that you might think that it’s a love story, but this isn’t. This is about myself This is my story.]
Panda: “Hi, Arjun! I’m impressed by the way you talk to me. You give respect and space to me. I’d like to talk more with you if you wish so too.”
Arjun: “Hey Panda, definitely man. I’m glad that you liked talking to me.”
Panda: “You’re so nice buddy. Okay, I wasn’t named Panda. I’m Sneha.”
Arjun: “Nice to meet you Sneha, nice name. Sneham means love/friendship, i’m sure you’d be a very good friend to anyone.”
Sneha: “I might be become a good friend to someone but I don’t have any good friends, not anymore. I hate people nowadays.
“Look Arjun, I’ll tell you only if you wish to listen to it completely.”
Arjun: “I promise I will listen to it completely without judging you. You can be open and assured with me.”
Sneha: “It’s been quite sometime, since I’ve been suffering all this and the first time I thought of telling it to someone, it was one of my closest friends, “ I am a not so desirable person. I’m not so fair and I’m definitely not slim. People just can’t stop body shaming me wherever I go. Once or twice it’s fine. But it’s not okay to comment on someone when they’re not taking it in the funny sense that you’re trying to ridicule them” I was laughed at by my own friend who heard the whole story and started calling names and making even more fun along with the others, in fact more than the rest. I hated myself for telling that to him, but can’t help it na.
Sneha: “I go to a place near my house wherein I carry a book and a couple of cigarettes. They serve nice chilled beer, best vegetarian starters and i enjoy my company the most, because no one’s ever heard me.”
Arjun: “Is it Sneha Verma? Your name?”
Sneha: “Come-on dude, here I am telling you my life story and you ask me my surname… Not cool and yeah, it’s not Verma.”
Arjun: “Okay, I’ll guess it and yeah, I’m all ears to everything you say. I understand that body shaming is so prominent in our culture that no one ever cares to talk about it. Even talking about people’s color is so in the trend that we call everyone with names based on their size, shape and colors. Sad but that’s the truth. Can’t help but bring it to more people’s notice.”
Sneha: “Yeah, true. An year later, i was just moving on with everything life has thrown at me. I was being forced to look good for my marriage and I needed to be in shape to my own people to even consider me for my marriage. I started gymming, running, playing some sports and tried whatever I could do to reduce my weight. I consulted my cousin who was elder to me thinking that she would at least help me out of the this little depression and my relatives’ excessive obsession that weddings are only for perfectly shaped chicks and not for the others out here.
I went up to her ”Yaar, i can’t do this anymore. I’m not able to do anything. Its not working and I am not ready for marriage yet. Why’s everyone forcing this on me about my weight and my shape? Don’t you know about my PCOS issue. It’s something that i wish would go away, But God doesn’t want me to solve already piled up problems.. He gives these chronic disorders too”
Sneha: You know what she said Arjun?
“Come on Sneha, people should look at you na? In the wedding hall. You can’t come this way. You have to stop eating rice and stuff, work in the gym for an extra 2 hours it will help you. You know? Sapna ji’s daughter she was 57 a few months before her marriage.. She reduced her weight to 48 because she wanted to be slim and moreover 3 was her lucky number. You have to get inspired by them. PCOS should not be an excuse ma.”
Sneha: “What bullshit man? What is she talking? Is she really in her senses? I do everything to get out of it man. But unfortunately nothings working.”
Arjun: “Sneha Mishra? Is that correct?”
Sneha: “Oh! Seriously man? You’re so immature Arjun. It’s not Mishra too. It starts with ‘A’. Try your best.”
Arjun: “You’ll know how intelligent I am when i guess it correct.”
Sneha: “Every single day after that Arjun, I cried myself to sleep. I don’t have friends who understand me nor the family that understands me. They don’t care about what i want. All they want is their daughter to look slim and sexy to all the random unknown guests when they get me married to some random 10L package IT guy. This is what they expect. They want me to be the Alia Bhatt for the Big Fat North Indian Wedding that they arrange to boast themselves in front of their contemporaries. Duck this shit man.”
Arjun: “It’s quite obvious na, nowadays, the marriages are not for the kids, it’s for the parents to show off how much they have and what all they can do. Total crap with drones, sangeets, hundreds of sweets, a grand set, live streaming. I feel like all these preparations are pretty similar to an IPL match arrangement. The spyder cams, cheergirls, food and drinks, a big ground, live streaming on Hotstar and Sony Six. Woww.. superb. Is it Sneha Arora?”
Sneha: “NO. Not Arora. This is too much. Are you even listening?”
“But i’ve been doing things man. I started working out a lot. Play badminton, do Zumba dance, walking while on the phone, running while not on the phone. Cut out my food cravings, prepared a diet. I want to prove this to every person who ever questioned me and my figure. I want to give tight slipper-slap to all these people with my transformation. I'm doing this for myself even though they want it too, but this is for me and I'm not marrying anyone yet”
Arjun: “Yes, I’m just taking time to process things and don't know what else to reply to you. But whatever you’re doing, I wish you the best in that. Hope things better soon. Is it Ahuja?”
Sneha: “No man. Not Ahuja. It’s not your thing dude, leave it.”
“Thank you for hearing me out Arjun. I never thought someone could care this much. You haven’t talked much about the issues nor try to ridicule me while listening. I now feel better, because it’s been quite sometimes since I’ve told this to someone.”
Arjun: “Nevermind buddy. Anytime for you. In fact, i loved talking to you. Can we meet at the Chitrangada Cafe tomorrow? I’ll tell your surname there.”
Sneha: “Haha, that’s my favorite place, I don’t want you to come there and ruin that feeling for me. And ha, let’s see what you’ve got.”
Arjun: “It’s not for coffee. Are you fine with that?”
Sneha: “Who drinks coffee with friends anyway? Always up for a pint of beer bro. Hifi.”
Arjun: “Hifi. See you tomorrow then.”
[Arjun, I saw him for the first time, he was looking cute, a normally built guy was sitting inside the cafe reading the book “The Girl I’ve met on the App” by Rajiv Nair.]
Just before me walking in to the cafe, he looks at me, comes up to the door and opens it for me, Sneha: “ Quite chivalrous, you are man, Arjun”
Arjun: “I know Ms. Sneha Aishwarya. That’s what we do. We pack in the best possible way and transport it to you in the best possible way.”
“AISWARYA PACKERS AND MOVERS” ( Doing a publicity gig for my DAD’s business)
Sneha: “ HAHA!!! That’s not my name bugger. You’re so crazy. Crazier than I thought”.
Arjun: “I know that’s not your name, but I just wanted you to feel for a split second that I couldn’t find it out. But you’re wrong buddy”
“Your name is Sneha Acharya and I know I am 95% right. Am i not?
Sneha: “What? How the hell did you do that?” Yes I am Snehaa Acharyaa. With an extra ‘A’ at the end of the two names. Interesting.
Arjun: “Because you said vegetarian starters. Who the hell eats vegetarian with Beer? And you said Big Fat North Indian Wedding. I clubbed them both and did some permutations and combinations and then found this. Just kidding, I found your profile using gmail id on Linkedin.
Sneha: “Man, Arjun!!! You’re an impossible retard”
Arjun: “ Yeah.. i know”
[And that’s how I found someone who could listen to my problems and laugh at it when I cry about them.]
Arjun: “Hey, cheers mate Sneha, Can i ask you something? I always wanted to ask.”
Sneha: “Yeah, cheers to you too. Go on and ask.”
Arjun: “What’s your weight dude?”
Sneha: “Piss off Arjun. I’m not talking to you anymore.”
I woke up as my smartwatch vibrated indicating the alarm. I tried double tapping it in an attempt to turn it off but my effort didn’t payback. Giving up, I woke up and sleepwalked to the window near my bed. The sound of water dripping from clouds felt refreshing as the cold breeze tickled me. I wished it was weekend today so that I could stay back and enjoy these little pleasures; the earthy smell of rain, the rhythmic pitter-patters with a cup of hot coffee.
Like a rejection of my wish, a sudden shrill of Rihanna’s ‘Work’ came from my phone. Peering towards the phone, I hesitantly picked up Arun’s wakeup call.
“You woke up buddy?” he asked.
While I replied, “Yes.”
He continued, “Okay, start early then! It’s raining and you could get late due to a surge in traffic. See you at the office.”
Before I could even respond, he had hung up.
I quickly rushed to the main door only to realize that the road in front of our porch is fully covered with water. I collected the newspaper which was dropped outside the main door and rushed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
The kitchen was all messy with a lot of unwashed utensils in the sink. I cursed myself for skipping the task of cleaning the dishes last night. Letting them wait a little while longer, I went to Ritu’s room to check if she had woken up.
As soon as I entered her room, I could see her sleeping in her minion printed night suit while holding her new teddy bear, with her loose curly hair. Looking around, I could see all her toys and Peppa Pig books lying on the floor.
After arranging all of her books in a two feet height rack and placing her toys in the mesh hanger, I could see the Sun paying a visit after the early morning showers. In an attempt to not let the rays disturb Ritu, I closed the curtains in her room and I hoped to ensure that I did not make noise. To my disappointment as soon as I turned around after closing the curtain, I could see Ritu sitting on her bed, with a puzzled expression. Taking her in my arms, I asked while caressing her forehead, “Why did my Ritu wake up early today?”
She closed her eyes and placed her head on my shoulder. There was no reply and I was concerned. Her gloomy face said something was wrong and as usual, I took her to the garden where she spent most of her time playing; with a hope that it might boost her mood.
As we stepped out to walk into the wet garden, Ritu turned to me before saying, “Momma, I saw...”
Holding her face between my hands, I curiously asked, “My sweetling, what is it?”
As I felt her cold face, Ritu replied, “I saw Papa but when I opened my eyes, he is not by my side. Why is he not beside me?”
While I was bereft of speech, she said, “I am bored without him.”
It was just a week ago that her dad had left for his onsite project and Ritu was already missing him. I cursed myself for insisting that he signed the new project agreement. Had I anticipated the impact it would have on our baby girl, I wouldn’t have. I walked back home to video-call him. After all, a sleepless night for his daughter will be worth it.
I wish the next few weeks roll by soon and Ritu hugs her favorite teddy as soon as possible.

“Chicha! Give me a gum” he said as he sat down on the bench in the park
It was a general hangout space for this gang, it was just so pleasant and they also had fun there since their childhood.
“Hey! Bharath have you forgot to bring the gum today i told you to get that for all of us!” Shashank asked him in return.
Shashank bharath were the ‘Chaddi Baddi ’ friends that they call themselves. They were pretty good in their studies and have never missed any fun that their age group have had.
It was a very pleasant morning with the breeze blowing from east gently over the trees that take in the fresh rays of the morning sun, dancing to the breeze to the music of the birds chirping in the peaceful and quite park over the branches looking at the aged people exhaust as they walk in the park in keeping their health fit. They walk in just like any day and sit over the newly built wood benches just to match the park and increase the elegance of the park.
“I do not know what is wrong with these girls now a days they have no taste....”Shashank utters to himself “Arrggh! I wish i had the luck of her holding my hand as she walks on the road and the whole world shall feel so jealous of me. Shit!”
“What happened to you! Like a mad guy talking to your selves. Pooja or what?” Bharath says.
“No! Pooja? Is she here man! I do not want to talk to, ask her to leave now. I do not want to see her face” Shashank replies furiously lifting his head to see bharath.
“Haha! I get it now. What’s wrong with Pooja and you, have you given up your liking for her now. At last she has something to cheer upon” Bharath replies laughing at his reaction
“Come on now, don’t laugh da” Shashank replies.
‘Da’ is a general word that they call their close friends
Shashank was 10 years when he thought he felt his heart skipped a beat. And he felt the same way in his next five years consecutively and everytime he only felt but he never tried to let it out to the other gender. But it was in his 17th year that he had the same feeling no wonder it was routine to feel that way but this time he expressed his feelings only to a certain extent and he had his methods of trying to impress with his stunting techniques and skills on his bike and his funky junky hair styles that he used to get it done as his fathers friend owned a beauty saloon for men and women and was so popular in the city.
“Pooja ! i do not know what has happened to my senses after i saw you Pooja! I do not know what has happened to my thoughts as i keep thinking only about you Pooja i do not know what happened to me after i saw you” he paused
After a week bharath has pulled all his guts to speak in front of pooja with a written script given by shashank and after his rehearsals for the last 2 days.
“I smile suddenly i do not know why
I suddenly forget my friends name for yours i do not know why
I suddenly see all the faces fade away as you pass by me i wonder why
I did not know the reason and in silence my heart answered all these questions.” Bharath continued as he recollected all the lines written by shashank and told them with a feel that he has never practiced. He was tensed that is for sure.
Pooja stood still like a rock looking at the empty streets. curling the hair strands behind her ears which let her dazzling long ear rings visible which caught almost everyone’s eyes along with a lips so delicate and red which were one of the highlights that she possessed. She was so thin wearing her black jeans that showed her physique that a girl would be trying so hard to be and she had a knack over maintaining it perfectly. With all these is not enough she had these deep black eyes that were so beautiful along with the kajol that she had put on and those never let any one from not staring at her. No doubt bharath’s heart skipped a beat.
“Do you know why? Pooja” He said with a smile of curiousness of listening to tell her that she likes him also
“I think you should ask these questions to a doctor and you would get a better answer for that” Pooja replied with an immediate answer.
“Oh! Pooja you are very funny. Okay then i will tell you” Bharath spoke after sensing the situation. “It was all because of you pooja. Yes since the day i saw you. I love you pooja” he completed his sentence strongly.
“I would better ask you not to come back with this sort of stuff bharath.”Pooja replied and she left.
It was after a week of his proposal that he saw pooja with a guy who the whole college talks of as a rich guy and also was good looking with a pleasant smile and bharath could not take it.
“Chillax boss nothing to worry may this be for a better future, for you” Bharath was diplomatic and these words had a little impact over him and he cooled down
They smiled at each other suddenly. A new start, a new time, another beginning of their late teenage days. But that is not the case in here they smiled at each other not because of realizing the truth that pooja would be in his life. Its because they saw a girl in a distance from their bench. She was so traditional that was his first impression when he saw her for the first time.
I do not know whether it was a real but i never wanted it to be my beautiful day dream. I am sure about one thing that she did not make me skip a beat but she did mean my smile right now the one that i had it on my face.
I would not want to see myself getting mocked about me having a crush over a stranger never-the-less not to my heart because she is my heart, She is the one i would continue to walk with holding her hand in hand all the way from the goa beaches to the pilgrimage’s. OMG my heart is speaking to itself never felt this way, my hearts pounding at a higher rate i never felt anything like this ever before
“Bharath! Bharath!. Da Bharath!” Shashank calls out to the lost bharath
Bharath by the time he regains his senses..
“Yes, ma i am coming back in ten minutes. Bye.”Bharath answers the phone call
“Lets go! Da tomorrow onwards we gotta be here earlier” Bharath tells to shashank
“Whats wrong Bharath what are you thinking. Anything wrong with you” Shashank asks
“Nothing wrong I.. I think I am in love...”Bharath tells Shashank atlast
“Da! who is she” Shashank curiously “Where did you see her? What’s her name ? when did you see her? ” Shashank continued
“I do not know anything about her at all. Call it love at first sight and one side love too” Bharath replied
“Come on man when and where did you see her?” Shashank asked
“Here right here in the park on that bench yesterday” Bharath smiles as he recollect all the memories
“Come on lets see if she is anywhere in the park” Shashank wanted to see that girl no matter what
Shashank and Bharath were on their move in search of the girl everywhere in the park. This is common for these two but it was always for Shashank
But this time for Bharath and after a round up and down the park duo reaches back to the same place their hangout spot.
Opposite to them they see, a girl sitting over the bench playing with her silky loose hair falling all over her peacock blue chudidar with a thin golden border that fits in perfectly with her ear rings hanging and shining. To all these her black kajal on her eye lids and with a thing long black sticker covering 1/4th of her forehead she was looking like an angel for his eyes, actually she was angel for him anytime.
“Da! Are you serious? Gosh! I could have see her before.” Shashank tells Bharath.
“Man! Believe me you are talking about my wife.” Bharath speaks jokingly
“I am the happiest person for you if you would end up marrying her”
“I know that man. Brother from another womb!”
“Gotta leave da mom asked me to come back, there is some work can you do a small favour?”
“Yeah tell me”
“Will you try to manage to bring out some information. Please”
“Yeah! I will give it a try”
The very day Shashank had to go to Hyderabad for he has got his interview letter. So every day Bharath himself went to alone, she always managed to come earlier than him. Each day she looked even more prettier and the feelings over her grew more and more.
“29/04.....Every day i walk into the park with only one motive, today is no different.
I watched from the same bench admiring her caring nature towards children sitting along side her. She never moved from her place but still the way she was smiling talking and every act, she is just good.....”
“30/04....today she was looking towards me...not continuously though but occasionally i think it was random but my heart says she noticed me. This makes me think of two things 1. Should i go and talk to her or 2. Should i wait for shashank to come and tell me what to do...He had lost his mobile so could not reach him....But this girl is what my mind thinks of every time. She is stunning today in her yellow chudidar”
“31/04 fudge! I should have set my alarm much earlier....yeah i was very late and i could not get dressed well but i managed to go there but she already left and i always wonder why i could never stay until she leaves and follow her home.....but i do not know but it was never possible.....okay but today she was stunning in her black chudidar and she was stunning beautiful... ”
“01/05 Today i could not go I was very upset and every time i think about it i ask my self, did she miss me? Did she notice my absence? And all my heart says is......nothing it has more questions rather than answer so i stopped listening to it....I will come back tomorrow i will not miss”
“02/05 Man i really missed her today man she did not come today i was really sad about that i just cannot talk...i will come back tomorrow...by the way shashank is buying his phone tomorrow gotta talk to him soon about this.. good night”
“03/05 i talked to priya about my love issue and she says that i have to approach her immediately and talk to her as i told her that i found her staring at me too some times and she told me that girls hate people staring at them and like the people who approach them with confidence....i am sure i gotta pull all my guts and approach her soon but should i do it without Shashank?...I donno i will think about it now...bye.”
“07/05 sorry could not talk to you i was little busy but all these days i managed to rehearse the proposal in front of the mirror, in front of priya, in front of teddy beat and also in front of snoopy my dog. I think it is weird but yet i feel confident about talking to her now........yeah i am gonna talk to her tomorrow and propose her.... ”
She was as beautiful as she could ever be. She was wearing a white chudidar with a peacock design over it along with a fat blue and golden border. She has got her compensating gold long chains type ear rings hanging beautifully, her hair pulled to a side over her forehead along with a little punk falling before over her eyes and a plates behind. She was looking perfect just like some one would get ready on a important night. But here it was just co incidence and i loved it.
I could not reach Shashank before going so i texted him what i was gonna do and i am sure he will be happy for me
“Gosh! Why am i unable to reach his phone now. Please god do not let him go there! Please do not let Bharath meet priyanka ”Shashank talks to himself in a sad and at the same time with some desperation.
Priyanka is the name of the girl and shashank could figure out some details about her “Priya....Priya! i have to talk to her” shashank feels that it is the right move
“Hello priya just go to the park immediately and look for Bharath his phone is out of reach. Please go fast ” Shashank insists priya
What is wrong with him! Why is he stopping him! Why does he not want him to meet her? OMG! Should I do this, should i ask him not to meet her. He was dying for this day. Let Shashanl have a good reason in doing this
“The number you are calling is not reachable do you want to leave a voice mail” Priya listens as she tries to reach Bharath.
“Hey Bharath please wait do not meet her before meeting me. Got to talk to you something wait at cafe coffee day. Priya” Priya leaves a voice mail in anxiety
“Priya I am on my way home i will bein the city in 1 hr please hold him for me .” Shashank pleads priya for this favour
“Goddamn! Shashank! Can you please let me know why do you want to stop him” Priya shouts over the phone
“.... it’s...you know on the other day when he showed me her in the park....he left before...” Shashank speaks hesitantly “You know on that day i was waiting for my friend...till late morning.......and..”Shashank speaks confused
“08/05 Yeah i am writing much early today even though the day did not come to an end but i am sure if i write it in the evening i will be out of words, over cloud9, I am sure my feelings are true and she is truly impressed with the way i was behaving ‘Being positive of yourself and what you are speaking will impress girls a lot’ priya always used to say. Okay i will go now bye...hey wait wish me luck!”
Bharath writes and leaves to the park in order to propose her and....
“Let me explain how important she is to my life! She is the painter and i am the canvas, I am the flute and she is the air blowing through it. She is the heart and i am the body of love.... I will let her know all this”Bharath speaks as he slowly walks to the park and approaching to may be his turning point of my his life.
“Hey!... ah!.. I....ah!.... I want you to.... know something” Bharath speaks as he picks each of his words carefully
“Yeah! Sure! But who am I speaking to” Priyanka replies
“Um!...The one whom you used to look back at every morning?” Bharath speaks
“I am sorry I do not look at anyone..Practically i...”priyanka speaks when she is cut off by shashank
“Ah! Would you mind us coming back in a second. Bharath there is a phone call for you!”Shashank speaks fast and gets him out of there in a hurry
“Man! I am glad you are back but let me go i am proposing man! Now i am even more confident because you are back......”Bharath talks like the happiest man in the world.
“Da! I do not...... I do not want you to propose her. ”Shashank tells bharath in low voice
Sensing the situation is not right “Da! Why? I am going.....I am going to let her know. Do not stop” Bharath walks off as he speaks to shashank
“Da! She is not correct!”
“She is not correct? What do you mean she is not correct. Yeah she is not correct she is the perfect one that fills this space of my life”
“Man! Okay! Let me tell you. She is blind!”
“What!”Bharath falls down on his knees crying.
By the time priya reaches to the place, she listens someone sobbing.
“Hey! Bharath what is this” Priya tries to console him Priya and Shashank tries to get him back to his senses for the next 10 minutes and to their surprise things turn pretty unexpectedly and Priya and Shashank were out of their words.....
“....What are you talking bharath...are you sure about it...”
“Da!....but! what about your mom”
“do you find any problem in Priyanka! Priya?”
“Bharath! Go for it I support your mindset. I will tell shashank”
“Priya why did you leave him? His mom? What if she does not approve? What will happen to his love of life? What happens to his life? What....”Shashank is stopped from any further questions
“His love is so true like that of mother to their children. I will talk to his mother” Priya says as they walk towards Bharath to know what is going to happen
Priyanka is in her sea blue chudidar with a blue sticker and her hair left loose to one side of her face completely and only her left ear is visible as their ear rings making their impression along with her stunning beauty.
“Do you mind walking with me? ” Bharath asks
“Sorry! , may i know who you are” Priyanka’s friend asks Bharath
“I am sorry. My name is Bharath and I.... I want to walk with her”
“Walk with her? Walk with her for what? And she cannot s..”
“Yeah! I will cut you right there. And I know everything about her.”Bharath speaks stubbornly “Now! Priyanka may I have the privilege walking with you ”
“What! Why do you want to walk with me” Priyanka speaks to him for the first time. Her soft and gentle voice was like music to his ears.
“You come with me first!”
“Okay? Do you think it is okay shivani?”
“Yeah! Seems like he is in love with you let us see” She whispers in her ears
“Okay! But till where?”
“As long as you can show me a place where there is no GOD i want to walk hand in hand with you and lead a life”
Priyanka is shocked on what she hears
“Will you marry me?” Bharath kneels down holding her right hand
“What!?” Priyanka’s surprised
He removes his finger ring and gently lets priyanka know by making her feel what he has got in his hand.
“Shivani do you think it okay”
“Shivani can you call her parents” Bharath asks her
“Of course! Here you go”
“Hey! Shivani what was that for?”
“Priyanka you might not be able to see him but I can sense his true love for you and I do not think he is the best”
“Uncle! I am Bharath, I have completed my graduation and I am about to join into Google as assistant GUI designer. I get a salary around 65k and I live in a combined family with a well cultured and good community family ....why i am telling you all this is because I am in love with your daughter and you have to accept me and I think I can keep her happy!”...... “Okay uncle. Take care bye” Bharath cuts the phone and hands it over to Shivani with his head down
Priya and Shashank watches him walk slowly in with his head down and they rush towards him and asks what has happened to him
“Priyanka....Um...”Bharath speaks in low broken voice “All the doors are closed now...”
“Do not worry! You will surely find a better person”
“Wait! All the doors are closed for you”
“All the doors are closed? What for me. Why are the doors closed for me? What are you talking about?”
“Your parents have approved for our alliance. It is up to you for your decision. Will you marry me?”
“OMG! I may not see you but I am sure you will take care of me.”
“How do you know all that?”
“I may live in a world that looks black but I know you have the lantern to fill my life with light and colour”
Shivani, Priya and Shashank watches them walk off from them hand in hand.
“The inspector could have waited for the forensic team!" shouted Andrew while we were on the way back to our apartment, and I was thinking of a nice title for his new, simple case.
A few hours ago there was a knock on the door and Andrew said as he updated his facebook profile “That would probably be the inspector."
I was having my breakfast and knew for a fact that he would not open the door; I did and the inspector stood before me.
“Good morning inspector," I said greeting him and he just smiled looking at me and said to Andrew “I think you must come with me."
Andrew looked at him for a moment and asked “Well, you look exhausted! The crime scene is nearby isn’t it?"
“Stop it and rush with me!” insisted the Inspector.
Andrew giggled and stood up. He tapped on the inspectors' shoulder before both of them moved to the crime scene.
“Wait! I am coming!" I shouted. A moment later I rushed behind them down the stairs.
We crossed the street and briskly walked past a few blocks. Finally, we reached a three storey building. Before the building was an ambulance and a few police cars.
As we ascended the stairs, Andrew asked “So, what happened?"
Inspector explained saying “The housemaid called us saying her employer killed his wife for cheating on him. For some reason, he tied her before he killed her. We took him into our custody and he is now claiming that he didn't kill her and the cherry on top of the case is that he is the one who hired you to solve his case."
“Intriguing! Husband killed his wife and asks Andrew to prove that he is innocent?" I repeated. Without another word, all three of us entered the room.
We looked at the dead woman in her nightgown on the couch shot in her stomach. The housemaid was giving her statement to the policemen and the house was a mess. The quarrel they had the previous night might have gone a bit too far and I presumed that the heat of the moment might have made the husband attack.
“Inspector, give me a minute with the body. Tell your people to leave and let the husband stay" said Andrew as he still examined the body.
“So Mr. can you tell us what happened again?" I asked him as I pulled my notepad out.
“I have already told the police and I am saying it again! Although I tried to kill her, I didn't kill her!" shouted the husband.
“So you wished to kill her but unfortunately it was not you?" I asked again.
He said “I was the one who shot..." but for a moment he stopped.
“That's it then you are guilty" I concluded.
“Sir! I beg you to listen to me. I knew she was cheating on me and I confirmed it yesterday after looking at her right-hand wrist with some marks on it. So I decided to talk to her and sort it out but she started quarrelling with me. She walked out of the bedroom with her bedsheets and I left her alone. Seeing the marks I presumed that she was being physical with a person with whom she has been cheating. Now, please don’t assume I didn’t ask her, because I did and she refused to accept it. What made me furious was that she even tried to hit me before she left the room. That night, I slept for a while and woke up after a bad dream about my wife. I could not control my anger and what provoked me the most was that my wife couldn't confront me but was willing to be hurt by another person. In the heat of the moment, I took my gun and shot her during midnight as far as I remember, as she was lying on the couch silently like a dead woman. However, you must note that though I was the one who shot her, it is not me who killed her as she was already dead when I shot her." he said trying to assure us.
“What is this? You mean somebody killed her before you shot? Have you been on drugs lately? Andrew, this man is out of his mind lets go!" I said in a vexed tone.
“Lewis give me your phone and please call the police inside. He is not guilty," stated Andrew taking a deep breath and started folding his handcuffs.
I called the police inside and Andrew returned my phone and stated “Well, the husband is innocent although he tried to kill her. He shot her exactly at her stomach so that means if she was alive, she would have cried in pain and the marks which you see on her hand are not the marks that form after being tied. Actually, those are the marks of Ricin, a poison made out of castor leftovers and it seems like the murderer tied her with a cloth which was affected with Ricin. If you look at her, it seems like she went there to have sex with him. The lipstick, the makeup on her face, and the strong perfume are all the signs that she went to a person whom she liked the most; but his intentions were different. One important thing to be remembered here is that ricin is a slow poison and its reaction takes place after a few hours of injecting it. Probably a day, but it looks like the dosage was high enough, so it reacted quickly than expected. So inspector, go and catch the person with whom she was before she returned home and most probably the husband might be knowing who that is and I would suggest you be fast.”
Andrew turned to the husband and said “Please drop the cheque in my mailbox by tomorrow."
As we walked back the inspector asked “So what is the name of the person?” and the husband replied, “Who said it was a he?”
By the way, before I tell you what happens any further, let me tell you my name. I am Lewis and from now on I will be your narrator.
“It is dark on the new moon night and I am getting down along with my team from one of the four helicopters to set forth on our mission. The illuminating symbol of an eagle on our shoulders is radiating and our mission is to kill the militants who ambushed and killed at least a dozen civilians- three days ago.
I was one amongst the troop who set forth on an adventure that demands life as it’s price and coincidentally, this is my first time and I am exactly like a docile lamb amidst the seniors in the troop.
To begin with, it all started a few days ago when a senior commander started recruiting freshers into assault troops. I definitely did not want to be a recruit but sometimes passing your tests pays off. Post recruitment, the first instruction I received was to not tell my family about the mission and hours later, the commander walked towards me and asked, ‘Why do you think I recruited you despite an average performance?’
While I stammered searching for words, the commander replied, ‘A soldier who sweats more in practice will bleed less in war and you are one of the few guys who is hell-bent on practice.’
The commander continued, ‘Most of my men are seasoned. I hope you live up to my expectations!’
I got onto one of the four helicopters and the troops were divided into four smaller groups. None of us knew how many of us would come back alive, all that matters is killing some militants on the orders received and perhaps no higher authority ever understood that killing such idiots would not get them anything than a few more attacks in retaliation.
The surprise factor gave our troops a remarkable advantage. We walked in the jungle, camouflaging, using night vision devices and approaching our targets. Even the militants were alert and as soon as our troops started firing shots, their guards also started firing ruthlessly.
I shot every militant I encountered till they died gifting them a painless death as I felt the whole mission as an act of cowardice because killing people who were sleeping and their guards who are half asleep is worse. On the contrary, I also knew that innocents were killed by these very men.
After killing a few members I suddenly turned to find myself in front of a militant’s gun. He shot me straight in my chest and never in my life did I feel the time passing so slow.
All I could recall is the cute face of my three-year-old daughter, a non-complaining wife and my parents who were always proud of me. I will miss you Anu!”
As soon as the sun rose the dead were taken and the government declared nine of their soldiers died in the operation. While my family wept over my father’s grave, his last recording was hidden by the agency and within the next two days, there was another attack. In this unending cycle of attacks, innocents and soldiers die alike but peace is never an option that would be preferred.
This is the last recording of my father Akash Patnaik during his fight in the war and it was given to my mother a few years later after the mission details were revealed and adding to it is my writing in the last paragraph of what happened the following day - Anushka Patnaik.

Walking through the corridor of that dreadful jail, I was still thinking how he could be murdered. I reached the spot he was laying upside down in one of the private prisons. But this time he was a bit lean probably due to jail’s food. I turned to inspector John asking “How did it happen in midst of such tight security?”
“Sir, I have a perfect explanation for this…” he replied.
Murder at jail!!!
As usual Tuesday’s morning was busy and sunny, the central jail was buzzing with all wireless and commandant was shouting and yelling at each of his juniors “I want everyone to examine keenly.” The final year exams of engineering were about to start. One of the most clever and cruel mind was about to give his exam.
“Sir, the exam council is online” said a junior after his phone buzzed.
“Yes, sir everything is set. You can send the invigilator” acknowledged the commandant putting down his receiver.
“Sir, may I come in?” Inspector John asked. Commandant gave a positive nod saying “Has he been shifted to the private cell?"
Before John responded Commandant continued “Make sure there should not be a single material which he can use to harm the invigilator and have you appointed the guards who will be guarding the cell? Because I don’t want to take any chance” the commandant spoke in an ordering tone.
“Yes, sir I have already appointed sub inspector Abraham and Murray.”
“Good… very good probably this time you are too serious on your promotion hahaha…” said the Commandant.
“Well what is he doing?” asked Commandant.
Meanwhile in one of the prisons Mr. Elves was preparing for the exam. Mr. Elves a man in his late thirties was the biggest criminal mind but still had interest in studying and was doing engineering through prison though being interested of being a biologist.
“Hey Elves…” cried Murray in his regular rude tone.
“No Murray he is “Mr. Elf” hahaha…” said Abraham teasing Mr. Elves.
“You morons can you chuck it or else you know what I can do” said Mr. Elves.
“Yeah… yea…… now like a nice girl strip and get ready for your exam” said Mr. Murray.
“You...” outraged Mr. Elves
“Aah… keep your pants down Mr. Elf” ordered Abraham.
Mr. Elves carried on with his work while Abraham opened the prison and Murray handcuffed him. Mr. Elves was taken to the special prison which was totally made up of steel. Inside the room only two tables and two chairs were placed in the middle. At the same time near the gate the priest arrived. He was checked by the door guards.
“Oh! Please don’t tear them they are exam papers” said the priest.
“I am sorry sir, what is this?” asked the guard pointing to a red cushion.
“Oh that’s my cushion for my piles, you know how they are” said the priest feeling shy.
“Yeah I can understand. Well you may go inside and be careful sir.”
“God bless you my child.”
The priest was accompanied by Inspector John to the private cell where Mr. Elves was seated. Abraham and Murray who were chit chatting at the entrance of the cell got into positions seeing John. They saluted Inspector John and Murray opened the cell. The priest entered the cell and Murray closed the door behind and Inspector John commands both of them to be alert, and leaves to his daily rounds.
“Well, let’s continue with your story although we have two and half hours to spare” said Abraham.
“Oh yeah but we also need to pay a bit attention to what’s going on inside” suggested Murray.
“Yeah… I know” said Abraham in a careless tone. It was all normal until two hours fifteen minutes. Suddenly the commandant’s phone rang and it was from the exam board. To his surprise, they said the priest was busy up till now and he was about to leave for jail right away. The commandant’s head started ringing and he immediately called Inspector John but unfortunately Inspector John was in his rounds. So the commandant rushed towards the private cell. Meanwhile Abraham opened the door and accompanied the priest to the main gate and he gave a nice send off to the priest. Commandant reached the cell and cried at Murray to open the door. Murray was totally confused hurriedly opened the door and to their surprise Mr. Elves was beaten to death. Both of them rushed to the main gates and ordered the guards to alert everyone. Anon alarms went on.
“This was what had happened” said Inspector John almost out of breath. “By the time I could reach it was all done.”
“I told you beforehand not to entertain those morons but you didn’t” said the Commandant furiously.
“Sir I am regretting for what has happened but…..”
Suddenly there is a movement in the dead body and everyone gets alert.
“He’s alive quickly take him to the hospital” cried Murray.
Murray called the compounders standing near the ambulance which arrived as soon as the sirens went off and he accompanied them. The ambulance tires screeched as it rushed towards the main entrance of the jail.
The ambulance siren was slowly fading away and detective Andrew shouted “Stop the vehicle! Go fast and stop it damn it you guys.”
“What’s the matter detective?” Inspector John asked Andrew while sending the guards and alerting all the officers from his walkie-talkie.
“Do you call yourself policemen? Can’t you guys even predict that blood dries in just sixty minutes and the mishap has just occurred half an hour ago which means it is not blood it was just red color water. Damn you morons!”
Andrew hastily opened the car door and requested Inspector John to accompany him. Luke started the vehicle and the engine roared to life. Andrew was still thinking about Mr. Elves while Luke was calling him. His touch made Andrew come out of his trance and Luke asked "Sir, why are you so much worried about a mere criminal?"
Andrew getting tensed checked his time and replied "He is not just a mere criminal. He is a friend of mine."
Luke was shocked and said "Wh ... What!!!???"
Andrew replied in a reassuring tone "Yes we were childhood friends and I don’t know how he changed so much.”
A Childhood Friend:
It was another day in school amongst all those bullies which made me loath my school. One day while I was being played by my friends, a pair of skinny legs appeared in front of me. He lent his hand and I stood up taking his support. He introduced himself as Elves and stopped others.
We became best friends and he was very good chess player apart from many talented aspects. We completed our under graduation from the same high school, after which he pursed life sciences and I pursued law.
After starting my service as detective I solved many cases. One day a case was issued to me and it encompassed the following details “A renowned scientist of national chemical laboratories was killed. The strange thing was that the scientist played chess with someone before his death. I thought it might be the killer he played chess with. To my surprise it was a perfect stale mate situation from the scientist’s side. However the cause of death was brain hemorrhage and that was because he was subjected to ultrasonic sounds.
Another clue was that the scientist held a queen in his right hand. Fun fact was it wasn’t the end of killings as series of murders took place in the same manner in just a time span of three weeks and scientist were being targeted.
The government was pressurizing me as I was in charge of the case. I reinvestigated the case and observed everything keenly and I was perplexed seeing the chess board arrangement and presumed it to be a coincidence as the playing pattern was same as that Elves.
I called him immediately to help me to solve this case. We had a nice time and that night after remembering those good old days & I told him about the case and showed him the photos of crime scene.
I asked him for a game so that we can study the case properly but something else was going on in his mind and he had almost killed me.”
Suddenly Luke stopped his car and turned back.
I replied saying “You know bats are the only living beings which can be hypnotized easily but to snap them out is a difficult task and Mr. Elves used it as a weapon”
That night while were playing the same stale mate situation appeared and he took out a rook from his pocket and opened it. From it came out a small bat. It flew near my ear producing some type of sound which was too irritating. He was controlling that bat using his hand gestures and he hypnotized the bat and to trigger it he used the word stalemate.
Luckily I guessed his move and caught his arm. However the bat did not stop and I was losing my grip.
“You got brains Andrew” he started with a cruel tone.
He smiled and continued “I thought you will arrest me as soon as we meet but you were asking for the killer's help to catch the killer himself.”
“The scientists I killed didn’t like my invention and rejected to present it in front of the world. Even when I had invented such a seed that can be grown anywhere in minutes and can be feed to any living being on earth he said no as humans have no potential to digest it. So I made a few changes in my invention and fed it to this bat and used it to kill him.”
While I was losing my consciousness my partner Mr. Stuart took control over the situation and arrested Mr.Elves.
Now that we are heading to his lab which is the place where his work is stored. We have no other option but kill him. As Andrew walked into the lab he saw Elves waiting for him. Andrew asked “After a long time my friend. How have you been?”
Mr. Elves laughed and was already guiding his bats to attack in the mean time Luke and John who just came in shot him down.
Mr. P woke up surprised and heard the nine o’clock bell from the college clock. As always, his roommate had already left. It didn’t matter which day it was, his roommate would leave without bothering to wake him up.
In the past, Mr. P even missed a quiz because he depended on him. Neither could Mr. P blame his roommate or could he even find another roommate considering how everything hated his hygiene.
Getting down from his untidy bed. Mr. P went to the common washroom, only to find all three sinks being used. He waited for a while but everyone seemed to be taking their own time.
Not intending to be too late, Mr. P smelt himself before starting to walk to the canteen. He felt a shower wasn’t needed for today and a notebook is of no use for him in his class.
The last time he wrote notes, it was two semesters ago and it was the last time he even tried to pay attention and achieve something in his life.
Upon reaching the canteen, Mr. P stood at the end of a long queue of hungry and frustrated young men. On the menu board, it was written Poha. This was his favorite breakfast made of flattened rice flakes and spices. While he moved forward in the queue, Mr. P realized he was the last member of the queue.
When he finally reached the counter, the server walked away with the small amount of Poha left. Though Mr. P shouted, the server didn’t even bother to stop.
Frustrated, Mr. P walked to his classroom cursing the server. Settling down in the last bench where he was all alone, Mr. P looked around at his classmates. He thought, “This day wouldn’t have been possible. If it wasn’t for my failure in choosing the right drug.”
A little while later after the professor entered, she entered the class with two of her friends. They settled down in the row before him. While wondering if she would ever sit beside him, Mr. P couldn’t help but say to himself, “I bet she doesn’t even know I exist.”
Looking at the empty seat next to her, Mr. P wondered, “Can I sit beside her?"
As he stood up when the professor was writing something on the board, Mr. P almost reached the end of his destination before another guy took the seat.
Looking at the guy, Mr. P thought, “There he is. I was wondering how could she stay away from him.”
For a year now, Mr. P wished to muster some courage and ask her for a date but she never even noticed him. It felt like, for her, he was a part of the shadows.
After the class was completed, Mr. P felt too tired to eat lunch. So he decided to just have some tea before returning to his room to sleep.
Even this time, the canteen was so crowded that Mr. P simply gave up and started traveling back to his room. He couldn’t help but think, “I’m a failure amongst achievers and I cannot meet my parents to tell them the truth.”
As he climbed the stairs, Mr. P thought, “I even failed at giving up. I’m worse than I thought.”
When he walked to his room, he realized, he left the door open when he was leaving. As Mr. P walked into his room, he could see his body still on the bed.
In just a moment, Mr. P realized the drugs he took to kill himself did work and it was his thoughts that were still stuck in his monotonous lifestyle even after he lost his mortal form.

Day-1: today I saw him for the first time. I don't know why I feel so connected. The moment I saw him; my heart, it felt like it's been filled with tons of air. Yeah! I know I'm exaggerating but I felt so. But he didn't see me. I wish I see him again.
After 2 days she will be coming down the stairs talking with her friend from her department and she'll see him coming from the entrance door towards the stairs and he'll glance at her for a second. She'll run to the place a bench under a tree where she writes her dairy every day. She opens her dairy with all her excitement and starts to write her dairy.
Day-4: I saw him again today, in my department. I think he's from the same department. But I never saw him. Gosh I'm so dumb. How can I not see him all these days? But today he saw me. Although it was just a glance, he saw me. Well that's enough. I wish he feel the same way as I do.
Next day she'll be walking with her friend outside her classroom corridor. And she'll see him standing outside a senior section. He'll wave at her and smile. But a girl comes from behind waving at him back. With an upset heart she'll go back to her place to write her daily dairy.
Day-5: I saw him again today. He was waving at me. Suddenly my heart it felt so excited. For that moment I really thought he was waving at me and I almost raised my hand. But Sushmitha came from behind. He was waving at her. Now a days I'm getting so greedy. Why would he wave and smile at me? But I'm happy. At least I got to know his name. When Sushmitha was waving she greeted him with his name. So it seems his name is YASH.
Wow I've started to like that name already. Anyways I've come to know one more thing he's my senior. So the good news is I get to see him almost every day.
She use to see him every day and use to write her dairy, Days passed by and her daily Dairy became her LOVE DAIRY. Because everything she wrote was just about him. One day she'll be sitting with her friends and chatting in lunch break.
Mounika: hey! Did you hear about Sushmitha and Yash?
She gets desperate and asks her,
Naina: Yash? What’s about them????
Harshitha: Don't you know they've been seeing each other. Everyone is talking about it.
Mounika: see Sushmi is coming let's just ask her.
Sushmitha: What were you guys thinking to ask me?
Naina: About you and Yash is that true? That you guys are in relation?
Sushmiha: yes everything you heard is true.
With a broken heart Naina walks out from her class holding her Dairy and tears rolling out she'll run to her place. Yash who was listening everything see her running with tears. And will go after her. She’ll sit on the bench and starts to write her Dairy.
Day-75: Today I didn't see him. I think there's no meaning in waiting for him. Why my heart is so aching so much. Why am I crying this hard for a stranger? Why did I bind an unknown relation with a stranger? Why? I....
Her tears drops fall on her dairy from her cheeks. And she breaks down and starts to cry. Meanwhile her friend calls her.
Mounika: hey Naina, it's time the buses are leaving hurry up I got your bag.
In that rush she won't see the dairy falling from her lap. Yash who's been watching everything takes the dairy with him.
Next day as soon as she comes to college she searches for her dairy. She'll return to her class after searching for it for an hour.and she'll hear her friends talking.
Harshitha: yes Yash was doing all the preparations he's gonna propose her now in the seminar hall.
Without thinking anything Naina runs to the seminar hall. She'll reach the hall and will try to push the door but she could clearly hear her heartbeat pounding so loud. Ignoring her heartbeat she'll push the door. As soon as she pushes him door dozens of balloons flew outside. The room was totally filled with balloons pushing away all the balloons from her way she goes in and she'll see Yash standing with red roses in his hands.
Yash: I saw you last year I felt the same way as you did for me, like the balloons filling my heart,
It was always you my heart searched for,
I made your friends as mine just to know about you...,
I can hear all day when people talk about you,
I never knew you felt the same,
I never knew the girl that I always loved cries for me so hard,
Now that I know I want to say what I feel for you...
He stands on his knees,
Whenever I see the moon your face strikes my mind...,
Whenever I walk lonely my heart longs your company....,
Whenever I touch the keypad my fingers feel like dialing your number....,
Whenever I experience something I get anxious till I share it with you....,
Whenever I sit alone my mind thinks about you...,
Whenever I'm ill my only reason to get well is you...,
Whenever I feel sad only thoughts that surround me are yours...,
Whenever I close my eyes I see your face and then I smile...
'Cause it's always been you in my ind and my heart,
I LOVE YOU NAINA.
On a sunny day, as soon as doctor Daniel opened his clinic, he had a patient waiting for him. Though it has been few weeks since he had patients waiting for him, pretending it was usual, he invited her to his cabin.
After both of them settled, the doctor could observe that the girl was quite tensed. Before he even asked for her problem, she mentioned, “Mr. Daniel, I didn’t know whom to consult. I’m in need of your help to find my friend.”
Asking her to take a deep breath, Daniel took two cups from the shelf beside him and served coffee from his flask. Passing one cup to girl, he mentioned, “I’ll certainly help you Arya. Could you just tell me everything in-detail and not rush?”
Looking into the doctor’s black eyes, Arya replied, “One of my friends is missing and I cannot help but feel that he is in danger.”
Daniel suspected Arya was lying as she never reached out to such great length to help someone before. So after tasting his sweet coffee served with milk, Daniel asked, “Can you tell me details about your friend?”
Arya took her first sip of coffee before stating, “He’s name is Anthony and we are colleagues. In fact, we share a cubical at work.”
As Daniel realized he isn’t a friend, Arya continued, “He is quite unique compared to most guys at work. He’s an introvert and seldom shares his views.”
Looking at her oval face and pony tail, Daniel suspected if he might be a gay. Meanwhile Arya continued, “Exactly four days back, he resigned from his job and when I asked for a reason, Anthony told me he was going in search of his Senorita.”
As his eyebrows raised, Daniel confirmed, “A title to address a young lady in Spanish?”
Arya nodded in agreement. Placing his cup of coffee on the table that seperated them, Daniel questioned, “So your friend left his job and is wandering in search of a Spanish girl?”
Arya nodded again. Feeling confused, Daniel questioned, “Is he traveling to Spain?”
Arya thought about it for a moment before saying, “I’m not sure. I have come to you suspecting he is lost in his loneliness and is destroying himself.”
Taking a deep breath, Daniel questioned, “And why do you think so?”
Looking at the doctor for a moment as he waited for her answer, Arya replied, “I have been to his home to talk to him. After entering using my spare, I witnessed his thoughts through his wall paintings and took time to read his diary too.”
Finishing her sentence, Arya passed a black diary to the doctor. Taking it, Daniel replied, “A few people’s diaries talk more than them. However, I’ll need time to comprehend his intentions.”
Arya impatiently pleaded, “Please get it done as soon as you can doctor.”
Arya tried tracking Anthony with the help of cyber police but since he wasn’t carrying his phone, they couldn’t help. Even tracking through money lending machines didn’t help because the last time he used them was when he was in city.
Meanwhile a few police officers checked the travel records to confirm that Anthony hasn’t left the country. Every contact Arya seeked told her they don’t know where he could go.
Two days passed by and even Daniel didn’t call back. Arya felt, she would lose Anthony and while eating lunch, she received a message from Daniel saying “Meet me as soon as you can.”
Arya immediately rushed to his place taking a leave that afternoon. Daniel could see her tensed and offered her a glass of water as soon as she settled down.
“I am excited about this case as it’s interesting. Your friend is quite unique and could be in grave danger if he is not helped.”
Arya curiously asked “Why? What did you find out? Can you help him?”
Daniel smirked. He knew how tough it is to find Anthony, as he is a fantasizer whose reality is his dreams.
However, he said “Your friend's personality is quite intriguing. I have never been more motivated to take up a case like this but I will need more evidence of the theory which I’m using as a reference before we start helping and to do so we must speak to father Joseph.”
Arya herself read from the diary that every Friday Anthony confessed his sins as he believed that God would forgive him and give him a lovable life if he did so. But never thought speaking to the father would help.
Both of them visited the church that evening. As they walked in, they could see father Joseph sitting in the first row reading a book. Arya tried to take a look at the book as it did not seem like Bible. As they walked half journey, Daniel said “You must be father Joseph. Hello, sir! I am Daniel a psychiatrist and this is my friend Arya. Both of us have come to seek your help finding Anthony.”
Father stood up and shook hands with Daniel and said “How come you know Anthony? And you want to find Anthony? Is he alright?”
Daniel sat on the second bench while Arya stood. Father sat back in his spot but faced Daniel.
Arya answered “Anthony is a colleague of mine father and four days ago he left his job to go in search of a girl called Senorita. As far as I know no boy would ever leave his job to find a girl but he did as he is insane. I was curious and went to his apartment the next day to talk some sense into him and could not find him. I even... ”
Joseph interrupted saying “You are Arya Allen, Anthony spoke about you almost every time he came here and Mr. Daniel nice to meet you. So both of you have come to me to help Anthony from what?”
Daniel leaned forward and in a steady voice said “Anthony is mentally unstable and is insecure. He is afraid of loneliness to such extreme ends that to protect himself he imagines characters and voices.”
Joseph explained “I know he is single even now and was lonely since a long time but he is definitely not afraid of it. He grew up in an orphanage which I owned and as most humans he seeked what he didn’t possess which was nothing more than love and care…”
Daniel interrupted saying “He was excited to read Misterio Señorita by Antonio didn’t he?”
Joseph thought for a moment as how Daniel knew about the book. He was pretty sure that Anthony always excluded about his lover Senorita in his diary. So he asked, “How do you know about the book?”
Daniel did not care to answer and again asked “Tell us, father. What did Antony really tell you before he made up his mind?”
Joseph plainly answered “Just a few days back he came to me and confessed his petty sins as usual but his tone was high as he was excited to tell me about his eternal lover waiting for him. He told me that he has been hearing a girl’s voice which was very sweet and he spoke with her every day. He also told me that he lost his feeling of loneliness when he heard her and eager to meet her he asked to reveal herself. She insisted that he read a book named Misterio Señorita and told him that this book would unveil the way he would have to travel to meet her. So he asked me to advise him as he was stuck in a dilemma. According to the book, he must let go of all his possessions before he started his journey in search for his lover and since I knew how he cried for years of loneliness, I asked him to win her as I felt his commitment.”
Daniel shouted “You should have never said that! You ruined this boy’s life!”
Arya got tensed while Joseph immediately asked panicking “What happened? Is Anthony alright?”
Daniel explained “A few decades ago a Spanish writer named Antonio Javier wrote poems for years about darkness and loneliness. Seeking to help him, his friend reached him out and took Antonio’s to a psychiatrist. After a clean study, the psychiatrist told Antonio’s friend that he has been lonely all his life and all his thoughts have been overcrowded with darkness and the will for hope has been shattered to such an extent that not even one thought of faith is left in him. The psychiatrist suggested that he would treat Antonio by making use of his strong internal desire to travel. The psychiatrist created a character in Antonio’s mind named Senorita, a girl who would provoke interest in Antonio to travel whenever he is depressed. Antonio’s friend accepted and for about the next two years Antonio wrote the best poetry as he traveled with the voice of Senorita. He started to love Senorita and asked her to reveal herself. She asked him to follow her voice and promised him to one day meet him. Considering nature as the goddess and its everlasting beauty, Antonio wrote the best classics and as time passed by his perception towards love and violence changed. For about two years, he excelled in writing and the last of him was his first story Misterio Señorita a journey he narrated to meet his eternal lover.”
Arya asked “Senorita is a fictitious character, right? How can he find her?”
Daniel smoothly said “Yes but the voice in his head made him travel a specific path finally leading him to a cave in the hills where the voice promised him to reveal herself. When he went in, he could see nothing but a dark pit. Lost was he again into the shadows and disappointment. Crying in pain he threw his book and not wishing to live any longer he killed himself as he felt betrayed. However his book remained as his legacy and since the story is left abrupt it attracted many readers and is an inspiration to many as the truth is always a sour pill but lies are as sweet as honey.”
Joseph did not understand why the voices directed Antonio to a cave so he asked “Why a cave in the hills? Why not a pit in the graveyard?”
Daniel clapped in excitement as that is the main point “When I got to learn about Antonio in my study of psychology, there is a concept called subconscious memory which will help humans defend from losing themselves when they are in need of strength mentally. Antonio read a poem every day titled “The Cave of Desires” which says that Gods have left a cave in the mysterious hills which satisfies every desire a human has and this poem made his thought shape out in such way.”
Joseph thought for a moment and shouted “So now Anthony is chasing behind the path Antonio left and when he will find out that there isn’t a senorita he would also be lost. Oh! No! What have I done? Daniel, please save him!”
Daniel assured, “I will save him but I need your help, Arya!”
Anthony has been traveling since a week and finally reached the blue hill that Antonio mentioned in his book. He followed not just the book but also the voice in his head and when he almost got into the cave he could see a girl standing in white ballet dancer costume dancing on the stone in between the pond formed by the small hole in the cave’s roof. He raced towards her to peek as he always imagined his Senorita as a ballet dancer. He tried imagining faces to her body as he raced towards her and when he finally reached her, he could see that she was Arya. He was awestruck as she has been with him all these days just beside his cabin and he could not even guess her being the Senorita. He walked near her and she calmly said: “I am sorry for doing this but this is for your own good.”
Saying this she hit him with her taser knocking him unconscious.
Anthony opened his eyes hours later and he could see that he was tied to bed and he could not yell as his mouth was also plastered. Daniel walked in and said “Hello Anthony, I am Daniel your only friend as of now. I will help you let go of your madness and...”
Arya knocked the door and Daniel walked out. She heartily said “Thank you, Mr. Daniel. I am in great debt to you.”
Daniel replied to her “I am angry at you Arya. If you really love Antony, you should have told it to him a long time ago as he would not have started his search or think of Senorita. Frankly it is your shyness that caused the whole thing.”
Arya felt bad but wanted to ask “How did you know about the ballet dancer?”
Daniel replied again “All these crazy people have the same signature line. Anthony loved the poem titled “The Ballet Dancer” by Julius and I presumed that he would love his Senorita dressed like that. I promise to cure him as soon as possible.”
